Dewey's Gospel Balloon Routines/No 1 - Plan of Salvation (by Ralph G. Dewey)

As is normal for Ralph Dewey, this is more of a pamphlet than a book. It's typewritten, with clear, hand-drawn illustrations. A few points of note: first off, it's a fairly short pamphlet -- only 13 pages. Conversely, it's only $4.50 (at the time of this writing -- 08/28/2001). It's well done, with examples of gospel balloons ranging from standard balloon creations, like a bee, with the message "Bee saved!" written on it, as part of an entire presentation of the gospel, using balloons as object lessons. It should be noted that for most of the standard balloon animals, Mr. Dewey doesn't give instructions on how to make a bee, horse, scorpion, etc. -- he refers readers to his Rubber Rascals book, although I still recommend Captain Visual's Big Book of Balloon Animals as a comprehensive, 1-volume encyclopedia of twisting.

Mr. Dewey does have some very creative balloon creations that aren't seen in many other places, such as the marble used to 'lock' a balloon while snipping away the tail -- illustrating that we aren't hurt as God prunes the sin out of our lives. A very nice visual application.

All in all, a nice little volume, inexpensive and worthwhile. Recommended to gospel balloon workers, clown ministers, (and even 'ordinary' ministers).

(solely because of the shortness of the volume -- the content's worth a 5 clown rating).
