btw, i was just behind ringside at that fight. i've gone to every cotto and juanma fight made in puerto rico

point is, corley landed less than 3 flush shots and cotto never went down. corley isn't a big puncher and had plenty of chances to take down cotto
cotto had him less wobbly, but corleys expression and actions were deserving of a stopagge. you just can't keep putting a knee without even getting hit. cotto did that in his match against marg and his own corner stepped in

Ok, i take the last comment back. At, 2:00 of the 3rd round. If the ref was gonna stop the fight prematurely he could've stopped it even more easily then, than he did when Corley took a knee, and looked him square in the eyes.

This video doesn't show the part where cotto was VERY HURT. Total mockery of what really happened.
herbiethebarber (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
Point is, Cotto was MUCH more (apparently, from what we can see) HURT, than Corley was when it was waved off.

too bad he got overwhelmed many times in the fight

Corley didnt want to be in there, he went down pretty much without getting punched which to a ref is basically a sign you want to quit...he had Miguel in a lot trouble earlier but was getting bashed by the end..I dont think he truly was unhappy when the ref waved it off. |
