Sigh, I shouldn't really have to defend myself against somebody who seems a bit emotionally complicated, but yes, Costello did read the book, and refers to it by name in a 1989 copy of Q magazine. Should be on line somewhere. And I am not a piece of shit (I've got a picture of one here, and my passport photo and they are QUITE different), nor do I worship anything at all. Religion is the bane of mankind. Not nine foot tall blood-drinking lizards.

This is a joke, right? He was writing about the possibility of reality shows, influenced by the science fiction of Norman Spinrad. (The book is called 'Bug Jack Barron' - read it and be amazed that it was written around 1969). It also touches on paranoia and the erosion of our public privacy in a digital age. It isn't about £$%^& demonic possession. What are you? SOme king of 9-foot tall blood-drinking lizard? :-)
