This interpretation is great, of course.
For our modern taste could sound a bit "dry" in front to others famous versions, like Von Karajan's one, for example.
But this is not a fail of Toscanini: it was just the point of view of a man in his time.
Without this Toscanini, it will never be possible for many directors be "great", including Von Karajan...

Ps only an absolute ignorant of music can adfirm that von karajan's interpretation and direction of 5th Simphony " is better" than the head masterpiecing one by Arturo Toscanini , only an absolute ignorant of music , no matter wherevere he's from .....

it's not a very good interpretation to your taste ???!! XDDDD
That's a clear evidence of how various and bad human tastes may be .....:-)

This is amazing. I'm glad I got into classical music. The sheer emotion and power generated from it is fantastic.

And you did not understand what I said. I didn't like Toscanini's interpretation. Not the symphony itself. I prefer Karajan's.

Though technically sound, imo it's not a very good interpretation (for my taste).

Why Smith? I think at least it has more emotional undercurrents beneath their metronomic rhythm than the flatness of today's orchestra. |
