This is the BEAUTIFUL Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton in England. The cathedral is one of the more majestic of the England cathedrals and churches I've visited. Here is some more background information on the cathedral, obtained from the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton website: ( http://www.dabnet.org/parishes... "The Church of Our Lady and St Philip was the gift of Henry Fitzalan-Howard. 15th Duke of Norfolk. The architect was Joseph Hansom, widely known as the inventor of the Hansom Cab. The style of the Cathedral is French Gothic about 1400. It was commissioned by Henry, XV Duke of Norfolk, in 1868 and opened on 1st July 1873, as the Catholic parish church of Arundel, with pontifical high mass in the presence of Cardinal Manning. It became a Cathedral on the foundation of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton in 1965. Its centenary was celebrated on 1st July 1973, with Pontifical High Mass in the presence of Cardinal Heenan." The song is "Anytime, Anywhere" by Sarah Brightman.

definitely a perpendicular style gothic. didn't see the main portal though only the rose window above the gallery effigies. these are magnificient euro original cathedrals pioneering the consruction methods of vaulted structures. similar places in US are the washington cathedral in dc and st patrick's in nyny. sure many more are out there. thanks

I love explorin' old castles, cathedrals, churches, and, AND . . . old PUBS!! LOL It's interesting in olden day England how often they would place pubs and churches close together! Sort of the 'yin and yang' of the human experience! :)
