How he describes the end is like the old stories our elders tell us(im aboriginal, cree) when we could all speak the same language, know each others thoughts and have knowledge of the world around us(In the day this was done by observation). Maybe it will be a more advanced version of the earth language.

In almost all religions point towards the same ideas. From there its just the names we put on each and the beliefs changes a bit. We all learn religion from stories so it does not surprise me at all that there are small changes in each. Its like playing a huge game of chines whisper lol. Just throwing that out there.

Personally I don't know why people invest so much time in this calendar. It may be true it may not be.. I'm just going to keep living my life.. If we all die in 2012, so be it.. it's fate I guess..
