This is how the art of telling an in-ring story is done. Period. Btw, Gorilla and Jessie were the best team on the sticks too.

Yo're right, the pop Flair got in '98 on Nitro was HUGE! The difference between Hogan & Flair is this, Hogan was a face for the majority of his career and Flair was a heel. We all know that faces get cheered while heels get booed. As far as Austin goes, he got thunderous pops throughout his career. However, I grew up in the'80s and, Hogan's pops were louder because at that time, he was the BIGGEST HERO in wrestling and I will always say that his mark will NEVER be duplicated, in MY opinion.

Ok, let me rephrase that. Being World Champion means that you have reached the pinnacle of your wrestling career. Mr Perfect was a great technical wrestler but, so was Savage. Also, Savage was an aerial wrestler and could hold his own against anyone. Macho Man had more memorable matches than Perfect (WM3 vs. Steamboat, WM7 vs. Warrior, WM8 vs. Flair, just to name a few). I agree we might not see Macho Man going into the HOF because of his current relationship with the WWE.

Gd points - but even you have to admit that the biggest pop Hogan will ever get will never compare to the pop Flair got after he came back to Nitro in '98 (?) and nearly every Austin pop to date ! As I said - Hogan definatley left his mark (but in my view) others left bigger ones !

Being World Champ doesn't mean your the best, just look at some past names - Kali, Big Show, Ultimate Warrior, David Arquette ? Not the best in the world ! And I totally disagree with you saying Curt Henning (Mr. Perfect) was not on Savage's level, Perfect had one of the greatest Technical matches of all time with Bret Hart ! Savage is in the top 15 of all time, and yes I still think he should be in the HOF,but we might not see that cause Savage and WWE are not on gd terms to my understanding

You are entitled to your own opinion, and even though I disagree with them, I still respect them. In MY personal opinion, Hogan IS the biggest entertainer in wrestling history. Whether people liked him or not, he got a reaction from EVERYONE. As far as pops go, listen to the pop Hogan got at WM3, when he appeared on Raw in Montreal after winning the WWE Undisputed Championship the night after Backlash '02, when he was inducted into the WWE HOF, and at WM21. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

So what if Savage was a detailed freak, there is NOTHING WRONG with making sure that everything goes well in a match. Also, being World Champion means that you are the absolute BEST in the industry. All those guys you named wished they could have been World Champion during their careers and ALL of them (except for Piper) were not on Macho Man's level! Savage is one of the 10 GREATEST superstars in wrestling history, he should have been in the HOF YEARS AGO!

I can see half of ur point with Steamboat, his interviews were abit meh. But I don't agree with ur point about Hogan as the best entertainer, I can think of at least 5 names that got bigger "pops" than Hogan - Austin, Rock, HBK, Sting, Flair (We Want Flair - never heard We Want Hogan !), Undertaker, Bret Hart, The 4 Horsemen (the reaction they got on RAW when Flair retired !), The Von Erich's, The Freebirds, Hogan did leave his mark, but others left bigger and more influential ones !

Being a professional wrestler takes MORE than just having great mat skills, that's only part of the equation. You also have to be able to entertain the fans, and sell out arenas, that's something that NOBODY in wrestling history did better than Hogan. By the way, you can market a wrestler all you want but, if they don't connect with the crowd then, they wont be as successful as someone who can. Steamboat was a great wrestler but, he was boring! Hogan & Flair were WAY more entertaining than him.

Roberts is better than Savage as a package, Savage's promos stank, Roberts gained the fans attention by wispering. Savage was a detail freak - he couldn't do much without planning months ahead - Roberts & Steamboat could shoot matches - which is what true talent is based on. And as for Savage's Title Reigns ? Many wrestlers are HOFers without a WWE title - Piper, Snuka, Henning ,Lawler, all HOF Members - never held the WWE title once! As I said I think Savage should go in - not just yet though ! |
