I think he meant he recorded his own voice earlier and lip synced at the live performance. Lots singers who dance do this. I don't think gabriel is lip syncing here though.

ever heard the album version? it's not even the same song... Peter Gabriel can sing, no reason to lip sync, not real evidence of it either.
