No. He wasn't really religious in a traditional sense of religion :) But with the movie the great dictator there was the rumour about it, and I think he never did deny it officially, what in my eyes is a beautiful way of handling this situation :)

I remember that I laughed so hard when I saw one of Chaplins silent shorts. XD It was something about that he ate something, and someone ( I think it was a lady) sat beside him and watched him eat, and then he looks at her and smile abit, and then eat again with an serious look in his face. hahah :D but I can't remember which short that was from.. hm.
