Not sweet romantic love, but deep human feelings: love, hate, terror, desire, anguish, fear, passion. It's a complex view of the contemporary man.That's why Bartók starts a new era while romanticism goes down in decadence. The late romanticism could not understand the complexity and radical changes of the 20th century.
Brahms and Berlioz are great composers but they still follow Beethoven as the supreme model. Berg is also a great "B", but he lacks the instict and genius of Bartók.

maybe because the score is written in ink and paper? oh, and maybe perhaps that the the score is written so that the sound is actually supposed to sound unclear and unfocused? after all, the opening depicts the bustle of the city.

俺はこの曲吹奏楽で知ったのだが、いつ聴いてもすげぇ曲だ。
話の内容もえげつないが、こうして音楽だけ取り出して聴くと鬼気迫るものがあるように感じる。
人間の「官能」というものをここまで表現したベーラ・バルトーク氏に拍手。 |
