They are among the airlines that are jacking up the fees based on travel days because they have to pay "extra" employees to come in on "peak flying days"...about $30 bucks...

I had a hard shell case for a Taylor busted, I think it was Delta. I saw it when I got home 3 hours from the airport.. They said I needed to bring it back to the airport to be inspected. Fortunately the case was guaranteed by the maker and the guitar wasn't damaged. I'm not a professional musician but I'd hate to fly with my truly expensive instruments ($4000 for one of them).

If I was United I'd give this guy a very grovelling apology, life time free travel and instigate a whole new scheme for transporting guitars and commission him to advertise it - while they still have a business to advertise!
