I always read this song as a question.
What is ticky-tacky. What does it matter?
Resolved, we should try to make our world out of something else, because our neighbour doesn't have it right and neither do we.

This song is likely a chuckling condemnation of those who blindly pursue a path leading to the routine of UP, WORK, HOME, TV, BED...All in the name of material posessions - The Ticky Tacky.
It's a criticism of a way of thought which pervades in this country (USA) and in others.
Not meat to be taken overly serious. But it might rattle someone just enough to get them to think for themselves...To disregard traditional notions and values and blaze their own unique life journey.

best way to control people is to give them a bill at the end of the month for a car a house and so on. You will rarely cross the line if you do this to a society and no need of violence brilliant! We are all slaves to desire!
