This movie captures the dangerous nature of obsession, aided of course by Bernard Hermann's musical genius

This movie cannot be remade. You cannot remake a movie that is virtually cinematic perfection.

Continuation of comment - Also, at the
coroner's inquest, which Scottie attended,
the coroner would have given a physical
description of the woman while alive &
shown a recent photo of her for the
benefit of the jury, with the postmortem
information. Once again, the murder
would have been exposed. The plot
becomes totally ludicrous when Scottie
doesn't recognize Judy as Madeleine,
even though the only change is hair color& style. But San Francisco has never
looked better in film.

Vertigo has magnificent cinematography
of San Francisco & some wonderful
dramatic elements, but the plot is totally
unrealistic. In the real world the murder
conspiracy would have been easily
revealed. After Gavin Elster pushes his
dead wife out of the bell tower the police
would have had Scottie identify the body
at the scene & give a statement. As soon
as he saw that the body was not the
woman that Elster had told him was his
wife the jig would be up. Comment

hitchcock's masterpiece.

Nope. Like Jimmy Stewart he has the charisma to make you believe a young beautiful woman would be interested in an older man like himself.
Besides, he only has the cane in House. He's not really crippled. He's British btw. Can't tell it can you?

You only suggest Hugh Laurie because he has a cane. |
