I absolutely agree with you on the term of "good hair". That is exactly what I thought. I did not know that relaxed hair or weaved hair was thought of as "good hair". The movie just really went another route. Our men do play a huge part in what we think about our hair. Not putting blame on them but I agree with you 100%.

You are on point, I am from the midwest and now in southside chicago and good hair DOES mean softer, loser texture hair.

What does that have to do with my comment?

Relaxers damage hair cuticles. If you straighten your hair right it has an electric shock effect to it. Relaxed hair does not because truthfully it is not healthy hair.

I was thinking the same thing about "good hair" I thought they were putting up a front. I'm from Florida and good hair is exactly what you said. If you had a weave or a relaxer it is more likely that you had "bad hair"

And let me tell you: Out of all the things that are refreshing. When someone says "I like your hair!" to me. It feels so good that it really is MY hair that they like, not extenstions, or a wig (which I wear as a protective style sometimes). You know what am saying?
I really want to see this movie. I plan to go with a friend soon regardless of the comments or reviews on it!!

Like you said kimmy. Youtube is going play a BIG part on educating women out there who want to take care of their OWN hair, but don't know how. I think in the next few years- a decade a number a sisters are going to be coming out with their natural hair.

LADIES! Can we get something straight here? For many who do not have a naturally soft texture hair type or a loose curl pattern: Weaves, perms and wigs is good hair to them! It's manageable hair!(which is soft or a looser curl pattern you know easy to comb; no knots or matts)! So all of you are right, but to get to the point: GOOD hair= MANAGEABLE hair (to them; however they have not been educated about taking care of their own hair)! Does that make sense???!!!

I agree, I'm 20 yrs older than you, back in the day "Good Hair" referred to soft hair that was easily combed. |
