No offense to the Ropers but I thought Mr.Furley was a much better fit for the show His physical comedy and the way he dressed was much funnier.I thought he upstaged John.Even though he didn't like those goofy parts they gave him.He handled it with class. he played them well.I always thought his Furley charactor was very much underrated I thought Furley was more funny than Barney Fife

I can't to think of Jim Nabors when I hear Don Knotts. They both were in the same comic class of geniuses.

People often overlook how great Knotts carried the dramatic moments. He was actually a great, great actor, his comedic ability overshadowed that aspect.

Well, usually when Barney gave his whole name, it WAS "Bernard P. Fife". However, his name was given in that yearbook listing as "Bernard Milton Fife". Maybe the producers messed up somewhere, eh? (I know another example of inconsistency with TV characters' middle names, but I won't cite it here.)
