Wikipedia doesn't always get it right. I know Dan Peek's parents and used to hang out with his younger brother in high school. Dan's mom is American. I don't know about the mother's of the other members.

I'm 50 and going back and listening to the music of the 70's. This was one of the groups I listened to. They're lyrics didn't make alot of sense but their music was good. Aligator lizards in the air? I think they were doing some serious shrooms!
