Republicans won in the local elections but lost in the national elections. Picked up two governor spots and kept the mayor spot but lost two House seats. Perhaps people are viewing republics as better at managing local areas and not the country in general?

The way I see it governors don't matter much, it is the senators and the congressmen who matter. The GOP lost the congress seats that were at stake. That feels good. I don't see the GOP actually getting ahead come next november.

I have to disagree with you xhagast. Not only did the GOP get Vir and NJ, bloomberg got another term as mayor of NY. So in all the GOP got a big win on ELECTION DAY. And I won't be surprise the GOP take all seats come mid-term election time.

Obama needs to show he was serious when he talked about change. Personally, I would urge Obama to sack Geithner and Bernanke.

So the Democrat base was not energized and the candidates were unpopular. And Obama was still a big factor, he almost made one win and insured the other lost BIG. Interesting. It means things are not so bad for the Democrats, that things are REALLY bad for the RepubliKKKans. It means that intensive campaigning next year by Obama in key districts will keep and gain seats. This is good. I was starting to get worried.
