I find it interesting that a number of women (like Orientals) hate that their hair is so straight and sleek. Meanwhile, black women will do everything in our power to get our hair to look like theirs! Why can't people be happy with what they have (even if it looks different)?
P.S. Beyonce AND Tyra pays up to $15,000 for her lacefront wigs. Tsk, tsk.

I understand what you mean about Solange. She did contradict herself when she said she had a perm since four and then said her mom always supported her with her hair. But, I think that more attention needed to be point on what all races do to their hair and not just black women. There was no talk about natural hair which was a shame to me.

Especially when other races long to have hair like us. (Sometimes)

Excellent topic. Very thought provoking. I will not support the hair weave industry.

I've always wondered where the human hair came from or if it was even human but never did any research on the subject. This definitely makes me think twice about weaves and wigs, right up there with heat. This whole hair thing is mind-boggling. I never knew transitioning to natural would bring about so much information and awareness but I'm so glad it is. I need to see this movie. Thanks!

I ended up arguing with a good friend of mine after we saw the movie.

I feel bad for the little Indian girls who get their hair STOLEN from them. They have no choice or say... :(

Good hair is a psychological psychosis influenced by a white male patriarchal ideology. Women, who straighten their hair, be they white or black only reinforce the idea of a superior Anglo/euro beauty.
Subsequently placing the white man's desires at the fore front of they're minds. Giving white men power over your appearance despite your discomfort. Sad but true.

I do believe that it is unethical to wear hair from off of young girls and babies. It is even sadder that we as black women have not embraced the hair that God gave us. |
