i am glad about my local hair shop yeah its run by indian people but they got a black african woman working there and shes really good my friend the other day said to her she wanted her weave up to a certain place pointin at it and the woman straight away said how many inches it is.

I only buy natural products and most of the people that sell don't have their own shops. There's a stall at Dalston market, also there was a shop i use to go to in Brixton off Acre Lane. There's an African market on 7th november at Woolich Town Hall. There's someone on this page called dlfunky who say they are in the process of setting up an organic range. A few internet business also.

Oh I shop there! And at many others and to be honest it does bother that every time I walk into a black hair shop Asian men are running it with cousins and friends. Most of the time they don't even care to help or know how to help. They just there to collect money and that's it. Grrmph!! To e honest Asian people run almost everything in London now! Hair, food, electronic shops, Cashiers jobs...just go to London and see what I mean. They run everything!

I find alot of these shops are run by asian men who can b vry disrespectful or see that everyone comin into their shop is a prospective thief. I think this stems frm the fact that asians in general look down on blacks...it reminds me off how things were back in the 60s with whites. I live in a predominatly white area so I have to travel 2 buy products. When they are rude I take my money elsewhere! Shops run by those of afro-caribbean decent tend to be helpful becuase they've used products.

We have to get away from this mindset that cheaper is better. The asian stores are more competively priced cause they want our business and we give it to them. If we were supporting our own then they too could cut out the competion.

Hey how about this. How about we stop fighting over WHO gets to mentally oppress us and just love ourselves for who we are. You want to stop making Koreans rich? Stop coveting their hair and covet your own. If black women take the time to really learn about their own hair they would know that damn near NOTHING sold in any beauty supply store (korean owned or otherwise) is healthy for black hair. It's all filled with chemicals, mineral oil and other garbage designed to keep you coming back.

I hear so many black folks complaing at how the asian man disrespects them when they go into their shops, why continue to spend your money with them? if it means i have to travel from one end of london to the other end to give my service to black owned business then that's what i'll do.The money which black people could save from not getting the fake nails and eating chicken and chips would be phenominal! Put it back into Your community!
