yea it might have been corny but Don Knotts and Tim Conway pulled it off anyway. Those two together are hilarious. just like Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

This kind of stuff isn't funny.
They needed a writer and a lot less predictable and redundant slapstick.
In real comedy there are a combination of real personalities where the characters are going through learning experiences.
