All the way back to the first rock-on-rock "music" by cavemen. Yeah, well funk and soul stood out in a way that really can't be compared to the way today's music stands out. Today's music, you wanna bash with your feet or pluck out your own ears. The funky era had soul and quality :)

amen. there isn't a single piece of today's mainstream megahits that aren't sample, re-done or simply stolen (due to inexistence of bands or expiration of copyright) and worn like new shoes... it's sad, the legacy these people left has been robbed.

Any music that's any good nowawdays was probably sampled or re-done from music back in the day (70's-80's). For REAL! Back then they really SANG,and played REAL instruments.
