Art is more than just "stupid pictures". While popular entertainment is not high culture, it would be hard to imagine music, books, movies or even modern computer games if there was no-one with a hint of artistic skills.
Also, the point of "living down there" is to survive the cataclysm and come back when the air is breathable again.

I can live without stupid pictures. They should have brought the computer & T.V repair people and internet and cable or else, Whats the point of even living down there?
