Will the best judgement is Shahnaneh of Ferdousi. It is in tradtional Farsi which is not todays Iranian dialect but Dari Dialect which was spoken from Central Asia , todays Afganistan and India ex quali songs, Beedel, Kahooti and India Mongol empire. French words in todays Iranian Farsi and Mazeh instead of original mazah and doshizah instead of Doshizeh ,

Id have to disagree with you because there is no "vaav" in traditional persian. Tajiks persian is greatly influenced by Russian, and Iranian Persian is completely destructed, whereas Afghan Persian (Dari) the language of the kings; has been preserved by us for centuries. Either way...we are all Persian speakers, so it doesnt matter. : )

Good for you! But as far as i know, the classical traditional persian had both sounds 'vaav' and 'waaw'. And these two are preserved in the dialect of Tajiks in Tajikistan. :)

Tajik like Afghans speak almost the same. They have waaw instead of vaav. Their Persian is classical traditional persian, except tajiks use cyrilic. Afghan speak Dari which is the true original Persian.
