@Jansper I'm not sure that there are many like Ron Paul. He seems to be rather unique--unfortunately. There's his son, Rand of course and Peter Schiff both running for U.S. Senate. They still have to get their party's nominations. The problem is that the Republican Party is conservative,not libertarian,which means that on some domestic issues --like taxes republicans are ok,but are terrible on spending and on foreign policy,republicans are interventionist to the core. And democrats are worst.

so there are other politicians like ron paul showing up? apart from rand, who else? i'm interested to know what background they have and it's important to check carefully if they aren't just paying attention to the new trend of enlightenment and if they just preach but dont follow. thanks

Well bob, The situation is better, after the historic victory and all. But to be dead honest ( Many Sri lankans might not agree with me), We are facing a similar situation over here. The majority gets easily deceived by cunning politicians who has put Power before the country. As some one earlier pointed out, what we missing are genuine statesmen. At least the open minded and intellectual Americans have Mr.Ron Paul (Statesman/Scholar), We have no one. Elections are coming up Jan 2010, lets see.

I agree silerage, I am an american and i always thought RP had the best foreign policy. We do not need to be in all these countries, and would not have so many people wanting to kill americans cause of it. There are other politicians like RP showing up, like his son Rand. Hopefully we can get these criminals out of our govt and elect more people like RP.
