This big ship the Emma Maersk will hold 15,000 containers and has a 207' beam and is 1,302' long! That 207' beam means it was NOT designed for the Panama or Suez Canal. It is strictly transpacific. more...The cruise speed: 31 knots means the goods arrive 4 days before the typical container ship (18-20 knots) on a China-to-California run. Made in Denmark.

Chinese goods are cheap and people buy them, that is market forces. For the record, this vessel and her sisters: 1) Do go through Suez and on a weekly basis 2) Has never yet touched any shores on North America GoallSales has definately scored an own goal on this one lol.

Duh, i thought it was kind of obvious it was owned by Maersk or else it would be called the Emma Wal*Mart.

Okay knuckleheads. This ship rarely calls on US ports and is not owned or operated by Wal-Mart. This behemoth sails mostly between China and Europe. The fact that this ship is enormous means that is in fact more envirnomentally friendly than shipping the same amount of cargo on 3 or 4 smaller ships. Use some common sense people.

the max. speed is 26 not 31 knots. i saw her many times at sea. at this times she is running on economic speed "only" with 23/24 knots.
