Just a note. At the end it says abscissic acid controls leaf abscission (leaf loss in the fall). This is an old hypothesis which has since fallen out of favor among botanists. The misleading name remains, but now it is believed leaf abscission is governed primarily by other hormones, including ethylene, rather than by abscissic acid.
