Oh, please - I lived there for 4 years, and it IS a beautiful country, Islam and all! Why would most Americans want to follow a religious cult invented around a man who maybe existed several hundreds of years ago and thousands of miles away? If you want to open your yap, at least open it about something you know about...

Lovely story - We ,each, bought a pair of flip-flops the locals called them 1000 milers. Kenya is such a diverse country with a resourceful and lovely people . Lamu (nothing to do with the current Kenya troubles or ours for that matter) hasn't changed in 400 years. The coast is beautiful and peaceful with great scuba diving. Well worht a visit. *If you're ever in Mombasa check out the 'baby' hippo rescued that befriended a 100year tortoise.
