Larry Parks was branded a comunist by so called patriots, and to my knowledge never made another film. The same goes for Charlie Chaplin and Paul Robeson the greatest bass singer ever, all had their livelehood ended by these idiots.

I will never tire of listening to this particular song and the acting by all of them. No need for words the looks were enough to see his wife had made a grave error in getting Jolson to retire,he lived to entertain.

My father raised my sisters and myself listening and watching Jolson movies.Everytime I hear this song especially it reminds me of my Dad and makes me feel like he is still here with me. Jolson's music was real music. and the Anniversary song. It is one that should be played at all Weddings. I am 52 and will listen to Jolson till I die.

It wasn't considered racist at the time. As early as 1911, at the age of 25, he also became noted for fighting black discrimination on the Broadway stage. Jolson's well-known theatrics and his promotion of equality on Broadway helped pave the way for many black performers, playwrights, and songwriters, including Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Ethel Waters. He was also the first openly jewish entertainer. Blackface was a tool for him to fight racism <3

Jolson was a tremendous singer. Iam probably on the few "thirty somethings " that appreciate his genre. Music like this is a fading property.
