Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tom Raymond (AKA Raynbow the clown). If you’re looking for someone to appear at your conference, convention or event, please feel free to contact me.
On a more personal note, I’m happily married, the father of four girls and 1 boy, active in my church and count magic (alá David Copperfield) and clowning among my hobbies.
Married on New Years Eve, 1992 (the anniversary of the day we met), Ellen (AKA Goofy Grape) & I remain happily married in connubial bliss (also known as Milwaukee, WI:)
We have five children—pray for us. Ellen’s hobbies include various crafts (including the making of cloth books which she labels at “Trudy-proof”; if you’ve seen our second-oldest daughter Trudy tearing apart standard cloth books, you’d know why;)
Nearly all of the content on the site is original; when it’s been contributed by someone else, it’s duly noted. The exception to this is the Jokes category - to my knowledge, all of the jokes are in the public domain, and free to use by anybody. If you want to use any article that I’ve written, feel free to do so—all I ask is that you link back to the website. If you like something on the site and want to link to it from your own website, then God bless you richly—please do so.
If you’re curious about the website itself, it actually started over 10 years ago; I was working as the chief computer nerd/technical support at an ISP in Rhinelander, Wisconsin (my ‘day job’ is computer geek), and the company was offering an entire megabyte of space to our subscribers, free with an account (yes, that sounds puny now, but in the days of the 28.8 dial-up modem, it was actually quite large). At a user group meeting that we sponsored, someone complained that one megabyte of space was too small—so, I decided to demonstrate that yes, you can do something usable in that amount of space.
The result was the first version of the website. Following the old adage that if you’re going to write, you have to have something to write about, I decided to write about my hobby, clowning. I started with book reviews, some free skits that I had developed for my own use, and other articles which eventually blossomed into the clowning tutorial.
Eventually, I moved the website to it’s own domain when I left that job, and it’s slowly grown over time, to finally become the largest clowning-related website in the world (to my knowledge).
