Part way through the commercial flight, an announcement came over the speakers: "Those of you sitting on the left side of the plane have probably observed by now that one of the engines is not running. Do not worry. It will delay us only about twenty minutes."
After about 15 minutes, another message came over the speakers: " Those of you sitting on the right side of the plane have probably observed by now that one of the engines is not running there either. However, do not worry. This plane can fly with two engines. We will be about forty minutes late in our arrival."
After a few minutes, yet another message came over the loudspeaker: " Those of you sitting on the left side of the plane have probably observed at this point that neither engine is running there. Do not fear. We can fly with one engine, but we will be an hour and fifteen minutes late on arrival."
Said a passenger to his seat-mate: "I sure hope that fourth engine doesn’t go out. We could be up here all night!"
