DVD movie review of Dizzy Pilots—the Three Stooges—Moe, Larry and Curly—originally released September 24, 1943
Dizzy Pilots is a very funny short film starring the Three Stooges (Moe, Larry and Curly) as the Wrong Brothers, who are trying to perfect a new airplane, “The Buzzard” in order to avoid the draft. The Three Stooges are as inept as ever, however, and have made the hangar too narrow to get the plane out. After sawing through the wall, and getting the plane out, they try a comical test flight—only to have weight issues, and have Curly start taking apart the plane from the inside. Earlier, Moe falls into a batch of rubber, and Larry and Curly try to get him out by inflating the rubber, which results in Moe turning into a mini-blimp, and the boys trying to shoot him down—very funny stuff indeed.
The second half of the short, although funny, is taken from Boobs in Arms (1940). Even so, it’s a very funny short, and recommended viewing.
Dizzy Pilots is available on Moe: Where’s your vice?
Curly: Vice? I have no vice. I’m as pure as the driven snow.
Moe: But you drifted. [hits Curly]
Curly Wrong: [to Moe] Don’t you dare hit me in the head! You know I’m not normal!
Larry Wrong (Larry Fine) : [to Curly] What’re ya doin’ with that rifle? Don’t you know any better than to use the rifle? You might miss him! [Grabs a shotgun]
Here, use a shotgun!
Larry Wrong (Larry Fine) : We dunno anything about flyin’!
Moe Wrong: Neither did the Wright brothers, but they flew! Anything the Wright brothers can do, the Wrong brothers can do! Right?
Larry Wrong (Larry Fine) : Right!
Curly Wrong: Wrong.
[Moe and Larry gang up on him]
Curly Wrong: Brothers!
Moe Wrong: No, nitwit! You saw the garage!
Curly Wrong: I see the garage, but I don’t saw the garage. You are speaking incorrectly. You are moidering the king’s English! Et cetera! See, saw, see…
Moe: You saw one side, and Larry will saw the other.
Curly: I see, I saw.
Sky Aircraft Co. rep at test flight: They’re either miracle men or they’re insane.
Moe Wrong: We’re losing altitude! We need to throw out some weight.
Curly: What’re you looking at me for?
