The Saxophone - I Love Lucy episode 40, season 2

The Saxophone begins with Lucy and Ethel going through items in an old trunk of Lucy’s—and Lucy finds her old saxophone, that she played in high school. Ethel asks Lucy to play something, and Lucy plays a (poor) rendition of Glow Worm. Ethel asks her to play something else, and Lucy plays another rendition of Glow Worm—apparently, everything Lucy plays sounds like glow worm. This comes into play later, when Lucy tries to join Ricky’s band—not out of a desire to be in the show, but instead to be with Ricky, who’s about to go on tour with his band.

Lucy’s lack of talent on the saxophone is her undoing (although her audition for Ricky’s band is hilarious), and so she decides to try and make Ricky too jealous and suspicious to leave. After trying to make Ricky think that there was a strange man in the apartment (courtesy of an old hand and gloves belonging to Fred), Ricky decides to turn the tables on her. Ricky calls a friend and hires four different strange men to hide in the apartment, whom Ricky later ‘discovers’ hiding, as Lucy’s jaw is dropping trying to figure out who these men are, and how they got in the apartment! In the end, Lucy gets the final laugh, as Ricky’s friend calls him, apologizing that he was unable to hire anyone to come over to the apartment! Ricky is now flabbergasted, and the camera cuts to Lucy, in Ricky’s friend’s office, with the hired actors, all laughing at how Lucy has turned the tables on Ricky.
