His Favorite Pastime - Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin in 'His Favorite Pastime', a very early appearance of the little tramp.

His Favorite Pastime—Charlie Chaplin—March 16, 1914

His Favorite Pastime is one of Charlie Chaplin‘s earlier appearances at the Little Tramp—but although he looks like the Little Tramp, he hasn’t quite cemented the character of Charlie the Tramp at this point.  Case in point, Charlie wanders into a bar, becomes drunk, acts obnoxious, and pesters a young lady.  Unlike most of his later films, the ‘victims’ of the Little Tramp haven’t done anything to ‘deserve’ his enmity.
