Lucy Hates to Leave - I Love Lucy
The Ricardos with their belongings temporarily move in with the Mertz’s until they can move into their new Connecticut home. And things get a *little* crowdedLucy Hates to Leave—I Love Lucy season 6, episode 168, originally aired February 4, 1957
Now that Ricky and Lucy Ricardo have bought a country house in Connecticut, they’re preparing to move out. Lucy Hates to Leave begins with Ricky pacing, at 2:00 a.m., nervous about how he’s going to pay for everything. Lucy gets up to console him and brings him back to bed, only for her to be pacing in the living room an hour later. Despite everything, they manage to get some sleep, and the new tenants arrive. Ricky has arranged to sell their old furniture to them, since they’re buying all new furniture for their house in the country. However, as Lucy hears how they plan to change ‘her’ furniture, she ends up buying the items back, one at a time, and storing them in the Mertzes’ apartment, soon filling the entire place with boxes until it looks like a labrynth. Some comedy ensues as people try to traverse the maze, and with Lucy ‘hopping’ up to make herself seen, and then hiding when the displeased Ricky arrives at the Mertzes ... and then the man selling the house calls, informing them that the title search has been delayed, and they’ll be staying with the Mertzes for 2 more weeks!
Lucy Hates to Leave is available as part of the season six I Love Lucy DVD collection.
