The Bull Fight - I Love Lucy

'The Bull Fight' is a classic 'I Love Lucy' episode that features a hilariously funny ending, as Lucy gets revenge on Ricky on-stage

The Bull Fight - I Love Lucy season 4, episode 120, originally aired 3/28/1955

One of the funniest routines that Lucy and Desi ever performed is at the conclusion of The Bull Fight.  The story begins with Lucy being asked by Ricky’s Hollywood agent to write an article about being married to a movie star—Ricky objects until Lucy shows him that all she had to do is answer the questionnaire that the agent gave her.  Ricky is then given a role hosting a television benefit for a heart fund.

Lucy then decides to blackmail Ricky to be in the show—if he doesn’t, she’ll turn in a very negative response to the magazine.  Ricky reluctantly agrees, but since Lucy Ricardo has no real talent, it’s difficult to do.  Finally, Ricky includes her in the show’s finale, a musical routine where Ricky will be the brave matador ... and Lucy will be the bull.  Lucy decides to turn tables on Ricky, and has the fierce bull outfit changes, until it’s about as fierce as Elsie the Borden cow.  During the musical routine, Lucy turns it into a hilarious routine, ending with the ‘fierce bull’ subduing Ricky.

Funny quotes from Bull Fight Dance - I Love Lucy

Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): I get a sinkin’ fillin’ when you get that look on your face.
Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball): Why should you get a sinkin fillin?

Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): That’s blackmail!
Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball): Don’t call it that.
Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): That’s what it is!
Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball): I know, but don’t call it that.

Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz): After all blackmailers can’t be shoosers.
Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball): I just want you to shoose something that shows me off.

Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): Honestly, did you ever see someone stick to an idea like Lucy?
Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball): She’s a human mustard plaster.

[Ethel laughs]
Fred Mertz (William Frawley): What’s the matter?
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance): This is a switch—for once the bull will be full of Lucy!
