Ricky Loses His Voice - I Love Lucy episode 44, season 2, originally aired 12/1/1952
Just as the Tropicana gets ready for its’ grand re-opening, Ricky loses his voice. Ricky insists on going to work to stage the new show, but Lucy lets him know that his boss, Mr. Chalmers, can do it—and just as she is going to visit Mr. Chalmers, he calls to inform Ricky that he’s going out of town, but he’ll be back for opening night at the club. Lucy decides to save the day, and with the help of Fred and Ethel Mertz she stages a vaudeville act, using music from the flapper era (and showgirls that old as well)! Surprisingly, the show is a hit—and ends with Mr. Chalmers joining in the fun as well.
Music performed in Ricky Loses His Voice includes “Sweet and Lovely”, ”Carolina in the Morning”, “Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue”, “Charleston”, “Mississippi Mud”, and “The Varsity Drag”
Ricky Loses His Voice is available as part of the season 2 I Love Lucy DVD collection.
