The Gossip - I Love Lucy episode 24, originally aired 3/24/1952
Tired of Lucy and Ethel’s gossiping, Ricky and Fred make a bet with their wives that they can’t stop gossiping. The girls counter that the boys are as big of gossips as they are, so the boys bet the girls in a contest of endurance—whoever gossips first must serve their spouses breakfast in bed for a month. Not content to let things go, Ricky decides to pretend to talk in his sleep, and tell an exaggerated story that he knows Lucy won’t be able to resist spreading. Sure enough, Lucy gossips the story to Ethel, and the boys win the contest. Until, that is, the girls figure out a loophole ...
The Gossip is available on the season 1 I Love Lucy DVD collection.
