Google "Who owns Johnny B Goog" and the results, in several sites, say Berry was one of few who retained rights to his songs. It belongs to his heirs now.

I believe it's YouTube that changed this music, also, if I recall correctly, there's something that says after 50 years or something music becomes public license. It varies from country to country, but i do know that johnny b goode was recorded in 1958, making it 51 years old, which means, if recorded in the right place, it may be license free.
