Be careful with this mentality. Boycotting a franchised gas station has little to no impact on the parent company. The largest impact is that wide-scale boycotts simply cause the franchising aspect of Chevron (or any other oil company) to end by associating it with being a risk, but their product is still drilled, refined, and sold, just in a different market.
I admire the spirit, nonetheless.

Shell dished $15.5m out of court to compensate the families of those killed in extrajudicial murders in the Niger Delta, and still clung to their rhetoric that they did not finance the civilian casualties and total destruction of villages.
I just have to wonder, if they were innocent, then why not show up at the court date rather than settle out of court? If it smells like shit, it's probably shit, and I can tell you that Chevron and Texaco are nowhere near roses.

Of course you don't bother to make your inside knowledge known.
Why do your ilk call people trying to get their community & environment back "gold digging"?
How is your mysterious inside knowledge more believable than the locals? Do you know them? Have you BEEN there? Have you watched the documentary?
Your judgmental attitude and condemnation of the "gold digging" locals reeks of corporatism: fuck humanity & the environment: let's give the planet over to big business.
THEY'LL LOOK AFTER IT!

In America, if there's a path that gets you more money, you take it. How many lives are ruined or destroyed is irrelevant.

The reviews I've read indicate the film is fairly balanced. Yes, the "locals side" almost certainly inflated their figures, but it seems clear that a lot of damage was done. Chevron's basic argument seems to be "not our problem" which they might even be able to back up legally. Still, it's a disgusting and shameful stance. People should be respectful of others and responsible for their actions.

This looks like a very very biased film. Clearly an agenda here. I am not for pollution or lax environmental control, but I am also not for gold digging and distorting facts to support a green band wagon agenda. Clearly there are valid points on BOTH sides of the argument. Having heard a few points of view of some involved I know there are a few major twists of the truth on the locals side in this case. I certainly don't believe everything they say. . . but obviously the producer does.
