The one with the Macbook was probably in his 30's. There's more stories than just that. Brits say insanely idiotic things about Americans.
A Brit blaming the US and the US alone for the Iraq War. 5 minutes later he said the US couldn't have done it without the UK. Or a Brit saying that Americans are vile, promiscuous sluts who fuck anything that moves, and then in the next minute saying Americans are overly religious Christian prudes who aren't sexually open-minded like Brits.

im going to hazard a guess here and say they were young

Yes, and the fact that a lot of Brits imitate American while simultaneously being anti-American is what makes them so pathetic.
When I was in the UK, a kid with a 2pac shirt explained to me that "ALL American music is shit". 2pac was an American rapper, I pointed that out. Another time a who was using an Apple Macbook explained to me that the US contributes nothing positive to the world, when I said Apple is an American company he got embarrassed then called me arrogant.

Neither country is any better than the other. We are all equal; there are good and bad people from everywhere, not just the UK and not just the US. Stop bickering and love the differences that make us unique.

I agree that we only treat it as a footnote. As they say, history is always written by the victors. To be honest i dont hold much "pride" for my country, as much as i enjoy it and have alot of good values, we also have alot of flaws, as every country does.

Yes I have. I've been all around the UK, and spent several months combined in London, Briston, and Cardiff. The similarities you just mentioned are also traits that we have in common with many other countries. The real reason that our countries have a "special relationship" is because of our common language and because, frankly, your country needed the US to slow your descent from an empire to a 3rd-string power after WWII, and we needed a satellite from which to influence Europe.

Have you ever been to Britain? Then again i cant comment as ive never been to america, but im not the one being prejudice. I think you'll find if you ever go or have gone that, both countries have similar values and morals, (with excpetions to certain US states). And that both countries are multi-racial, multi-belief and treasure freedom of speech.

You say Americans oversimplify our Revolutionary War but you Brits basically treat it as a footnote in history. It's funny that Americans defeated the largest overseas contingent of British troops you had ever sent at that time, and created the country that is now the world's only superpower. But you people either completely ignore what happened or pretend that you just "gave" us our country.
You're trying to shield yourself from a historical fact that will hurt your pride. |
